You check the waves from the deck, do yoga facing the Pacific and float in the infinity pool between sessions.
Kitchen, dining and lounging
Our private chef cooks breakfast and dinner here with fresh local ingredients, and there is a 6am coffee station for the dawn patrol.
A gym in the jungle
We built an open-air gym on the property: TRX straps hanging from the trees, wooden weights, ropes and turf. The howler monkeys watch.

Villa questions
Where exactly is the villa?
Villas Playa Maderas sits on a jungle cliff in the middle of Playa Maderas, about 11 km by road north of San Juan del Sur on Nicaragua’s Pacific coast. A private path and stairs lead down to the beach.
Who will I share a room with?
Other guests from your week, girls with girls and guys with guys. If you are booking with a friend and want to room together, tell us after you book and we will set it up.
Does every room have its own bathroom?
Yes. Every bedroom has its own bathroom with hot water, plus A/C. Rooms are cleaned daily.
Can I get a private room?
Yes. A private room with its own bathroom is $2,650 per person for the week, versus $1,950 for a shared room. You choose at checkout.
Is there wifi?
Yes. The villas have fast fiber wifi, usually 100 Mbps or more, and a backup generator for power cuts. Fine for a video call if you have to take one.
Is the villa safe?
The villas are in a gated community with security on site 24 hours a day. SYB has used them for about ten years.
What is the food like?
Our private chef cooks 5 breakfasts and 4 dinners with fresh local ingredients, with fruit smoothies every morning and no seed oils. Tell us about allergies or diets when you book. Lunches are on your own at the beach spots nearby.
Are the villas the same for every SYB Nicaragua trip?
Yes. Surf Camp uses three of the private villas at Villas Playa Maderas, the same home base SYB has used for its Nicaragua trips for years.
